PETERSEN MEDIA- Following some bad luck with the King of the West Series a couple of weeks ago, Jason Statler and his DF Rios team were back in action over the weekend at the Silver Dollar Speedway for the 23rd Annual Fall Nationals, and Statler would pocket his 12th and 13th Top-10 finishes of the season.

“I was really pleased with how well we qualified both nights, and how consistent we ran, I just wish I would have capitalized on our heat race starting spots both nights,” Jason Statler said.

With 54 cars in the Silver Dollar Speedway pit area on Friday night, a two-flight qualification program was in play, and Statler timed his DF Rios Motorsports/Amerikote/Riley Collins Auto Body No. 00 entry in seventh fastest in his flight.

Lining up on the front row of his heat race, Statler would slip to the second spot on the initial start, and would maintain his position. Though in the Feature, Statler would miss out on the Dash, and line up in the seventh row for the 30-lap preliminary night feature event.

On the extremely racy Silver Dollar Speedway surface, Statler was able to move forward slowly as he and his guys admittedly did not go far enough on the set up. Able to battle for much of the race, Statler would close the opening night feature event with a ninth place finish.

Returning to the speedway on Saturday night, 56 cars would check in on this night, and Statler would again time in very well as he would end up fifth fastest in his qualifying flight.

Finishing second in his heat race, ‘The Big Guy’ would move into the 40-lap A Main event as he gridded the field from the sixth row. Amidst a nasty wind storm and a slick racing surface, the Grass Valley, CA driver was able to work his way forward quickly as he found himself in the eighth spot and in the thick of things.

At the halfway point, Statler’s machine would start to get a little free, and his charge forward would halt, though he continued to run inside the Top-10. Slipping back a couple of positions at the end of the race, Statler would close out his weekend with a 10th place finish.

“I’m not sure if I sealed up a tire or what exactly happened, but I could not make any grip over the last half of the race,’ he added. “I have to thank my guys for all of their hard work, and thank Dave Rios for everything he does for this team.”

Jason Statler would like to thank DF Rios Motorsports, Amerikote, Riley Collins Auto Body, SCI, Kaeding Performance, Kistler Racing Engines, Simpson Race Products, Yak Graphics, Factory Kahne Shocks, Ultra Shield, Rod End Supply, Santomauro, and Stephanie’s Custom Interior for their continued support.

ON TAP: Statler and his DF Rios Motorsports team will be off this weekend as their 410ci engine gets repaired, but will be back racing starting next Thursday for the 22nd Annual Trophy Cup in Tulare, CA.

2014 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-31, Wins-0, Top-5’s-6, Top-10’s-13
